Our Mission
Our Mission as educators is to enable students to become the finest readers and writers of literary texts that they can be. Students also benefit from a diverse and intellectually rigorous course of study. Particular faculty interests and strengths include nineteenth- and twentieth-century American Literature, early modern and modern British literature, critical theory, and creative writing.

Medieval English Literature
It frequently releases untapped potential amongst students who are not confident in traditional narrative or essay writing. And for the higher grades, our aim is to have students feel and taste poetry before studying it.

POETRY
Poetry is literary work in which the expression of feelings and ideas is given intensity by the use of distinctive style and rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre of literature.
Why does Kumon incorporate Poetry within its curriculum?
Poetry is a powerful tool for raising standards in literacy and developing language skills.

Kumon Egypt's homework assignments and practice tests:
Students are assigned structured homework assignments and a crucial practice test every two weeks. Students learn new topics, strategy, and content in class, solidifying this knowledge through homework assignments, and then integrating this knowledge with a practice test. The completion time of these assignments can vary from student to student, but in general, students should budget about 8 hours for outside class work in addition to the two 3 hour class times each week. Homework assignments average about 4 – 5 hours and a practice test takes a little over 3 hours. These estimates do not include time spent studying our vocabulary lists. Overall, Kumon Egypt Test Prep students commit about 14 hours of time each week to their SAT studies.
Each lesson plan is accompanied by homework that integrates lecture topics and reinforces the strategy and content taught that week. Homework is required each week and gives students practice in the areas that were covered in class. Practicing methods and strategy skills taught in class in a non-timed format is important to timed test day performance. The key is to first understand the content, structure, and plans of attack for each problem in an untimed, stress-free practice format. Then once this knowledge is solidified and integrated students can incorporate it under the constraints of a timed test. After completion of each week’s homework assignments students will have a toolkit of methods and strategies available to apply to problems on their practice tests. Homework reinforces what students have learned, and will also provide Mr. Lee an assessment on areas where students need additional help.
Students complete timed practice tests to integrate all of their knowledge and to assess their performance; this totals 5 practice tests. Structured practice, in the form of a timed practice test, is fundamental to increasing your test score. Mr. Lee will collect test information each week and use it to adapt the class to students’ deficiencies and areas of needed improvement. Mr. Lee uses the first week’s test as a pre-test to gauge the initial level of the class. For this assessment, the week 1 practice test is taken before all other week 1 homework items are completed. For the following weeks and months the practice test is taken after all homework items are completed and culminates into all knowledge learned up to that point.
Homework assignments and practice tests solidify strategy and content into long-term memory so that students will perform to their potential on test day. Completing all homework assignments and practice tests helps students get the most out of the Kumon Egypt programme. Outside class, work is an important component to the programme, and will help students get their best score on the SAT exam.
Taking real practice tests is the single best way to improve your test score. The Lucky Students at Kumon Egypt proctor their tests within the examination room under exactly the same conditions as the testing location. This allows students to mimic the real world test examination format. Mr. Lee teaches significant proctoring procedures and provides students with the necessary tools and information to proctor their tests effectively.
The purpose of the SAT curriculum is encapsulated in the four capacities - to enable each Kumon Egypt student to be a successful learner, a confident individual, a responsible citizen and an effective contributor.
Kind regards,
Director and SAT instructor,
Mr. Lee Adam
